Patersons Cakes Paterson's Cakes are one of Melbournes longest running and wonderful bakeries and cake shops. They have been creating delicious treats since the business was founded in 1916 and has offered traditional pastries such as asparagus rolls, spicy beef puffs, egg & bacon slices, sausage rolls and feta & spinach puffs ever since. Head pastry maker Peter Schneider always has something new on the cake board too, be it his version of an old classic or something new he was inspired to create.

One thing they're renowned for is their special occasion cakes, you can see why when you walk into the shop. Just a small selection of what these clever people do is on display, and they'll make any type of cake into just about any shape or design to suit your needs. If you're celebrating something special, you'll want to consider their hot and cold savouries, small cakes, sandwiches and other great nibbly bits. So good are they that many of the great caterers use their services, such as Peter Rowland, the MCG and both Flemington and Caulfield racecourses.

Their sweet products include sachertorte, eclairs, iced fancies, Danish pastries, cream horns, cheesecakes, fruit tarts, lemon curd tart, lamingtons, jam tarts and 'Lindsays', layers of puff pastry, custard and raspberry jam made especially for businessman Lindsay Fox. The six-month aged fruitcakes are wonderful too as is their ready-made puff and shortcrust pastry. Christmas is a real treat here too with a huge selection of cakes, puddings and other sweet Christmas food.
